Talked to a Cop
Wow this is a long trend!!
This whole lisence plate thing is an interesting subject in MA cause they changed the law a few years back so there are just as many cars on the road with front plates as there are without, both legal!! So if you get a ticket in Ma. for not having the front plate on you simply take it to court and ask the judge why you have to display your plate if 40 to 50% of the other drivers on the road don't(this applies in MA as I'm unaware of the laws of other states). Because If they are not being forced to turn in there plate to get a new set with both front and rear plates then I can not be made to display may front plate. At this point in every case I've heard about from friends and family and YES-- EVEN A FEW COPS, the ticket gets dismissed. I know this sounds kinda childish like if he doesn't have to why should I, but I know plenty of people includding a few police officers who hate the whole front plate issue just as much as me. [The car just looks better without it--IMO
] Now I respect the law enforcement officers as a whole. They are stuck dealing with the worst part of the population, which I'm sure is not fun. But most people don't like the front plate on there car. I would rather pay the 40.oo fine then put the front plate on my S. You know its funny the cop that lives two houses up from my folks house said to put the plate on the bracket and then run it over with the car and simply put it under the seat incase you get pulled over for it, just so you don't have to waste your time going to court just pull it out and say its broken. Your not lying. And you just havn't had time to fix it YET
.
JRM I'm not saying break the law so don't flame me.
What I am saying is just use the loop holes to your advatage
Anyway everyone drive safe and watch out for the DRUNK DRIVERS this weekend, we don't want to loose anyone.

I think being in law enforcement changes the way people think. My uncle worked for LAPD during the riots. I asked him his opinion and he tells me everyone got what they deserved (namely King). Once he pointed his gun at me, but that was years ago. He likes my car. Likes driving it and tells me not to worry, he won't get a ticket.

Jeff, I know ur from the UK, but is there any way you can stop saying CHEERS? you bag on someone and than you say CHEERs. it really is paradoxical or poorly sarcastic.
my point, once again is that one man trying to change a outdated law isn't really gonna make it, lets be honest. STEVE, i really appreciate your interest in this thread. Itwentz too. the root of what im getting at is police being people who just enforce laws without thinking about their legitimacy. its a pretty pathetic excuse to say, oh, the cop is just doing what his boss is telling him to do. bullpucky. why do police sometimes let pretty ladies go with a warning. i never got a friggin warning.
what im trying to say is: COPS ARE ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO ARE ENDOWED IMPROPERLY, WITH THE POWER TO HURT OTHERS. SINCE THEY ARE ORDINARY AND FAULTY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, THEY SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN THAT POWER. THE RIGHT TO PROTECT SOCIETY FROM ITSELF SHOULD BE THE HARDEST JOB TO ACQUIRE.
