I was not being sarcastic, I was out of line and apologized.

One more point: Please don't associate ticket quotas, getting tagged for 'semantics', and unfair treatment with bad cops. They are not the same thing. We are getting into the grey area surrounding one's personal sense of injustice, rather than outright corruption.

If you are truly concerned about corruption and the abuse of public trust, you really should start looking into political power. Politicians make the worst police depts look like saints.

So to put this in perspective, if you put a licence plate on the front of your car, you'd have avoided 3 tickets. If you'd had your dipped lights on, you woudn't have attracted the cops attention in the first place. If you're so scared of cops why not just comply with a couple of simple legal requirements? As for missing a 'No Entry' sign, it could happen to any of us at any time! I don't think the majority of us would be alleging police corruption because we got a ticket. Just because you think a plate looks $hitty on the front of your car, you're making a deliberate choice not to put one on. If anyone's being confrontational I don't think it's the cops! Oh and that "Haven't you got anything better to do?" line is the oldest one going.

Well like I said, there are good cops and there are bad cops, just like there are good people and there are bad people.

I agree with bobatimez... if you encounter a bad cop, there's nothing, not a damn thing, you can do about it other than take his shit and report him afterwards in a form of a letter. Yes there is an extreme lack of check and balances. Then again, if such a system existed, everyone who receives a ticket or is arrested for something would file claims that the officer was abusive, etc.

Cops yield a lot of power, some use that power for good, some take advantage of it and use it for bad. I've met and know both varieties. I was pulled over once in my S2000 for speeding and the cop was very nice and took an interest in my car, saying that his wife wanted to get one. What started as a routine stop for him turned out to be a 30 minute car talk. I ended getting a verbal warning - "Slow down, although I see that's kinda hard to do."

On the other extreme, I was pulled over another time for doing absolutely nothing. I was stopped at a friggin' red light when a cop driving the opposite way of traffic abruptly turned on its lights and sirens, made a crazy u-turn, that almost hit another car, and got right on my ass. I thought that maybe he had some emergency so I pulled out a little to let him through. Next thing I know, he's still riding my ass, so I ended up going through the red light with my hazards on to let him pass. Then the cop tells me to pull over from his microphone. He comes up to me and tells me that I'm stupid and that I just ran a red light in front of him. I nicely explained that he had his sirens on so I was forced to move out of the way. Then he had the balls to deny that his lights were on and told me the STFU and that I was getting a ticket anyway and there isn't anything I could do about it. Then after friggin 30 minutes he comes back with 5 friggin tickets!!! Running the red light, wreckless driving, and 3 equipment violations (illegal headlights, too low and loud exhaust). I was like WTF! I told him that my car is completely stock from the factory and this is how it comes. Then he told me that I had illegally modified my car blah blah blah. I finally told him that not only was he an asshole but an ignorant asshole. In my anger, I signed the tickets "f*** you pig" and left. I later took everything to court and won.

And my point... cops are humans. I later found out through a friend that this "bad" cop who gave me 5 tickets was going through a nasty divorce and his ex was seeking everything and custody of his kids.

And JRM... damn dude, you need to seriously chill out. You run around all through this forum, with nothing really intelligent to add to any threads other than your insults and aggressive behavior and jumping at everyone whose thoughts differ from yours. Months ago, I recall you went at it with me, calling me all sorts of names simply because my opinion differs from yours. Please remember that this IS an internet forum, where people come to exchange ideas and discuss things. bobatimez does have a valid point. And just because he isn't a S2000 owner doesn't automatically make him less of a person and definitely not someone that needs to get a life or a "troll". So what if he isn't an owner? And you run around telling everyone that you are a honest and righteous cop in real life... LOL Well, judging from your behavior here, you fit into the "bad cop" category. So go ahead, reply with your childish insults and adjectives... You will just prove my point.

This is really cheap and really low. Just because your opinions differ from his and you two have had words in the past, you resort to insulting the integrity of his work ethic, with no proof other than internet posts to back yourself up?

Please reflect on this very hateful statement you just made. You just insulted his person, his profession, and his work ethic all in one.

This guy not only puts his life on the line every day at work, but served our country as well, only to have people like you insult him and take cheap shots. If you're gonna insult someone who's spent his life serving this country, you better bring more than just name calling to the table.

He may have been a bit out of line, but that still doesn't open the door for you to attack him.

Very very sad.

You're right but as I said, solely based on his behavior here in this forum, he would fit into that category. Again, I don't know JRM. He might be "Police Officer of the Year". I say that to make a point... that JRM needs to quit acting like an a$$hole to everyone and anyone who has a difference of opinion with him.

Sad indeed.

Jeff (JRM) didn't have to include his profession in his profile. He and others chose to do so, because they are proud of what they do. Rightly so. Jeff will be judged as a contributing member of this board I hope and nothing more. He shouldn't have answer for every grievance real or imagined, that anyone has with the cops.

Jeff. Do yourself a big favour... don't respond to this. Members are quite capable I'm sure, of forming their own opinions!

more of this feeling sorry for people who choose to be cops. HE CHOSE. life on the line.... yadda. sounds heroic and all but most people who do it probably just get a personal kick out of it so stop feeling sorry for him.

HID Fogs are made by Sirius. $450.

JRM, why are you jumping all over me?

the point is not the front plate. the point is that if noone had pulled me over, i would not be any more menace to society. they are turning a good citizen into a disgruntled one by picking at semantics while obvious major lawsare broken by harmful criminals. ok ok, NO HARM NO FOUL, how bout that?
