Default tax guys/accounts chime in

I am a bit confused here. I used one of the free online tax refund calculators to get an estimate on my return and i am very disappointed. It says I will get about 500 less than i got last year and i only made 800 less. how is that possible if nothing changed???? Same job, same withholdings etc. So I am wondering if there are any unspoken codes or things to do to get more money back
I am single, went part time to school for spring semester so i think i can get an education credit of some kind and made 24,2xx and had federal withholdings of 2,0xx.
if that helps anyone out.

Uhhh, you pay the tax you owe. You get back what you overpaid. This is actually a good thing. It means that you overpaid your taxes less this past year than the year before. The refund is your own money. WTF?

Sounds like you're already scamming the system enough so maybe you should just be happy with all your tax free tips.

Go to www.irs.gov

Download the 1040 form and instructions. Go through them and see if you can claim any additional deductions that help. If not, then you're paying the right amount of tax... which is <10% anyway, so I don't think you really have much room to complain.

I never knew anyone who made tips and reported all of them.
