Is there anything that americans won't sue for?

Where is the acceptance that

a) accidents do happen
b) responsibility for one's own actions (ref: Stella whatsherface who spilt coffee on herself )

Well under law, I think it's called a torte.. Even if you didn't mean to do it, if you display some neglegence you CAN be sued

ie.) I leave something on a stairwell, someone trips over it, I'm held accountable and could be sued.

So it can be intentional or unintentional.. but in this case, it's ridiculous.. This is like the new American way.

it's complete bullshit.... the kids parents could counter sue for something i'm sure.... hell if they don't like something the teacher said to there kid at some point, they can sue... it's just to easy...to take the easy way out. damn i wish people would stop looking for any reason to sue someone.

Of course workmans comp should pick up the bill but in a case where for one reason or anouther it's not covered(i can't image why) then the child should be taught that they are responsible for there own actions and taught so now. I'm not sure the extent of her injuries nor if she's tring to make a buck but if shes just tring to get medical bills then I'm with her 100% if she's tring to take advantage of the situation then f-her.
