Default The term 'rice' is negative.

I see a lot of people who use 'rice' as a term for people with just a lot of stickers and nothing under the hood. This term bothers me. I'm thinking that this was invented by a who person knows nothing about asian culture, since, 'rice' sounds very sterotypical and it offends me in a creepy way. I don't think asians call the sort of cars 'rice'.... I don't think there is a name for a car that's like that for a domestic car or european cars? let me know what you guys think. also, I just want to find out how many different race owns this car.

i am a s2000 owner and my race is

white
black
european
asian
other

If I see some yahoo w/ a 1988 Jetta and it has Type R stickers plastered all over it, I might mention that the car is rice. If I see a 1996 V6 Mustang with Cobra emblems, I would most likely say that it is rice. I don't care what kind of car you drive or what race you are but if your car is riced out, it's rice.

You have a good point. Also, in general, we all need to remember that although the majority of members and contributors to this forum are probably WASPS, this is an international group. Lets not do anything to inadvertently promote the image of the ugly American.

BTW, my definition of rice would be the same as my definition for poser. Remember poser? Man, that was a good word.

Well, I live in San Antonio so I see quite a few examples of domestic rice. It's funny the first 378 times but after that it becomes old.

I believe "rice" orginally came about to describe fixed up imports and the asians that fixed them up. This of course was back in the day. I'm not sure when the import scene started. Now the term has crossed color lines and car lines to describe any cars that are fixed up in a tasteless way, depending on point of view of course. Also, asians were the primary drivers of imports a long time ago, but now anybody can own an import. Thus the term "rice" is definitely affiliated with asians cuz that's a main staple for the asian culture. At least it started out that way.
