The term 'rice' is negative.
First of all ... I don't understand the reason and even doubt the meaning of the poll. While the term is used to generally classify cars which are modified the wrong way or to represent something of which it is not. Really, it's that simple ... Nothing more to add and this poll is really a waste of time.
I'm not exactly clear on how the contents of the poll relates to title of the poll, "The term 'rice' is negative". What exactly does this poll set out to show? An unscientific (read: useless) demography of S2000 owners? Just getting a profile of the group still does not show who does or does not use the term.
Well, for those of us who are educated and above such weak-minded traits as bigotry, the term has its own meaning for which we will use it without guilt.
Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. "Rice" is obvious in its origins, and is statistically verifiable by observation. How and why else would the term have started?
If a word offends you, or you think it is offensive, don't use it. However, do NOT make the mistake of defining the lexicon for everyone else and making imaginary Nazis to witch-hunt after.
I do not find it offensive, and I will continue to use it. It is a very effective word which immediately expresses what one is trying to describe when they see a car (of ANY origin) that is tastelessly or thoughtlessly modified. Rice has different meanings depending on the aesthetic tolerances of the observer. So lets not go into discussing what IS or ISN'T "rice."
In the meantime, lets all have a laugh at the cars on:

The site is authored by an Asian, by the way (he must be mad! Betraying his own race! -- no, he's probably just educated which is a sure cure for bigotry and witch-hunting)
I'll continue to use the term "rice" with and around my Asian friends.
For those who have a problem with that -- you cannot control what people think by controlling what they say. If you think otherwise, you are a fascist.

IMO, "rice" has nothing to do w/ race, just bad taste. If you put huge stickers, neon, wings, and coffee can exhaust on your Civic, you're a ricer regardless of race! I've seen riceboys of all races, and know of many asians w/ good taste. Even asians use that term pretty frequently.
Personally, I love rice, just on my plate instead of my car.
