Lol!! European race, I like that.

Calling something "ricey" (In terms of lots of stickers, big exhaust+no power, whatever else you decide) is stereotypical and ultimately degrading. Does it car hurt the cars feelings? /me thinks not. Does it hurt the person driving the car? I dunno. Nonetheless, calling something "ricey" seems overwhelmingly derogatory and shouldn't be done. Don't insult people/their cars, you may possibly be asking for trouble.

To stick with the thread title, I have never heard "rice" used to describe a car neutrally (or positively) rather than negatively. But, that's just me, a 20yr old (21 in EXACTLY one month) white male from Southern Cali.

Be nice to people and try not to use terms which appear to be overwhelmingly derogative, it makes life a bit more fun for all parties.

wtf??
call a mustang with a wing and sticker a "big-mac" for all i care. Rice is a short, easy to say, term that just rolls of the tongue. And it is very descriptive to people who know the context. I would say that rice is only about cars and not about the people driving them one bit. I don't know where are of you guys are from, but in Portland Oregon more "rice" cars are driven by HS white kids with too much of mommy and daddy's money.

This practice is nothing new. People are always looking for ways to be preceived as better or richer or cooler then then actually are. I like to call it the "stripper syndrome." Bad attention, good attention...as long as i'm getting attention. For strippers it is all about how sexy they can look, for "ricers" it is about people looking at them, paying attention to them.....actually for strippers it is probably the same. It is about being insecure...and everyone is a little insecure in their own way.

Where the term came from...shit who knows..and who cares. It is a word that packs meaning sure, but give me a break. It isn't like asains are oppressed in our country, can't find jobs, can't find work, are getting killed all over the place for their race. People say stupid shit...and sometimes it sticks...deal with it. When i see a civic with a gigantic tail pipe and i say nice rice. I am not thinking damn I hate asain peole and their asain cars..i'm thinking...what a waste of money, that sounds funny, and looks even funnier, and serves no purpose what-so-ever.....

GET OVER IT!!
