Get an Armani watch... $350-500 (and save come cash). Whenever people see me wearing mine they "know" its gotta be a fake (cause everyone thinks they are in the Rolex price range)

btw... nice choice on a car

If you're going to go down that particular route. . . why not just get a Swatch? Yes, Swatch. They make the mechanisms for a crapload of other companies. So, why dole out $700 for a Longines, when it's really just Swatch guts.

Seriously though. Buy what you like, and make sure it is in fact Swiss and/or from a reputable jeweler. There are watch boards on the interwebz; that might be a savvier place to start.

And yes, my "daily" is a Swatch Irony. . . The others are vintage (60's Omega and 60's Rolex).

1000-6000 is a broad range. At the bottom I would get an ORIS TT1 and the top I would get a nice blue and gold Rolex Submariner. In between it would be an Omega Seamaster. These are all watches which increase in value. (Meaning their retail prices keep jumping).

If you know nothing about watches, why would you spend that much on a watch?
