Default Tint gurus...

I asked the tint guy to re-do the rear window tint because the original installation had few tool marks around the rear break light which drove me crazy. With the sun behind your car, I could see them clearly with my rear view mirror.

Now that the new one is installed, I'm seeing "distortions" when I look at my rear view window to see what's behind me. Is this because the installation is new? Should I wait until the thing tint film "cures?" I don't think I remember seeing anything like that with the previous installation?

It sounds like you went to a real hack job of a shop. I have never had any of these problems you are experiencing. It takes about 24-48 hours for it to cure, and safely able to roll down your window, etc. I wouldn't wait too long before taking it back though.

But you're talking about the s2000 right? If I recall, you can't tint the back convertible window because it's a type of plastic on some years? That's what my shop said when I got it done, and they told me they wouldn't do it because it wouldn't cure correctly since it's not really a "windshield" type of window, it's a different material.

No it's an IS350 rear window. Some say the distortion is due to fast sloping rear window and the thickness of the defroster. Bunch of lion $hit?

defroster will create distortions. Distortion will also decrease as the tint installation liquid evaporates

If you turn you defroster on when the tint is drying, would it evaporate the liquid quicker?
