alright, so even at $10/hr

$10x2080 hours in a year
$20,800-30% (taxes, probably steep though)
$14,560+ ($750/weekx50 weeks)
$37500+14560
$52,060 after taxes

Still pretty freakin' sweet for a meat-head job.

It's also back-breaking hard work and in some cases (pro movers) it takes a certain bit of know-how to bring in a huge odd-sized piece of furniture through a tight doorway while pivoting it up and around a banister, etc.

I still wouldnt tip much though

Back in december I had my lcd tv delivered. The delivery guy called me asked for directions to my house. Then when he arrived, it was some really really old guy. So I moved the tv myself from the truck to my house. Ya, he got no tip from me...

I got all my furniture delivered to me, the guys took forever to get here, and took their sweet time moving stuff in, even though they had known I was in a hurry.

(I had an appointment at 2, they were supposed to be at the house at 11. They got there at 1:30)

anyway, I had a 3 piece sectional, an armoire, bed, chest of drawers, and a bigass mirror. Even though I was annoyed at them, it was still alot of work moving it into my upstairs apartment, so i gave em 20 bucks, probably more than I should have though.

Why are you considering tipping the furniture delivery guys? Give them a Coke/Pepsi and call it a day.

The couple hundred to deliver it wasn't enough?

If you ever need milk or anything give me a call. I will gladly go to the store and deliver it to your house for $20.

well around here tipping is considered normal for a service, no matter what it is,.....i work for tips also so i know how it feels. one person can make or break your day.

anyways they showed up and were unable to get it through the door to go up the stairs. ended up sending it back. so no tip anyways

Uh, depends. I'd never tip for a basic delivery as it's an in and out in 5 minutes type deal. A can of soda or glass of water sounds fine for that level of service... a $1 tip is just insulting.

OK the worst tipping experience is when I go to the club.

So, I just paid $20 to get in, and the girl at the register says "Would you like to tip?"

BITCH, wtf did you just do to deserve a tip? Take $20 from me? You better love me long time, ho.

Roflol.

Bought a round of beers at a bar once and it came out to $30. Bar tender handed me back a $10. Did he seriously expect a $10 tip? I mean if you gave me two fives MAYBE if you were hot as hell and funny to boot.
