TL-S dyno?
Does anyone know what the average TL-S dyno to the wheel is? I've got some guy saying it only dyno's 200 at the wheel?
I think the regular ones might, but the TLS?

It's not unusual to see a 3.2 TypeS dyno around only 200hp at the wheels. Reason for this being is because the TypeS models have an advanced 2-stage intake manifold. The car is already not making it's max potential power by just sitting their still with one of the intake manifolds open, but when the RPMS climb and it's time for the second manifold to kick in, nothing happens because it's still not getting any air in. One of the biggest things that give the TypeS models more power over the base models is the 2-stage intake manifold. So I'm guessing that when the car is actually moving, that it would be making about 230-235 at the wheels. The only true way to be able to see how much a TypeS is making at the wheels is if you have a fan blowing cold air into the engine bay with the fan increasing speed as the revs climb.
TypeS in no way should ever be underestimated. I believe that if both an S2000 and a TypeS just floor it off the line (S2000 not peeling out), the S2000 will have a hard time passing it.

I don't think the type S is that fast, is it?

Plenty fast: standing quarter in roughly 14.8... seems faster than most poorly driven stooks.

Because of its torquey V-6, in a rolling start I think it would stay in front of us at least until we're through 2nd gear, long enough to consider it a "win".
In general, my recommendation would be don't get caught in the wrong gear against a CL/TL-S.

If you nail it from idle, TL-S will win out even if the stook shifts perfect (what are the chances?).
On a 20 MPH rolling start, stook kicks TL-S's ass every single time.
I bet a 7000 RPM done right will nail TL-S as well. (haven't tried)

If I really want to, I can wait for the 6 speed, transfer the CAI and install the comptech headers. That will produce over 300 HP at the crank.
But, what's the point? It will still be FWD and it will still be a big boat. It's a great family car that provide a little fun. I'll take it for what it is.
