I'd say yes...only from a manufacturing standpoint.

That split is so your wang doesn't touch the seat??

I always thought it was to minimize the initial dribble on the seat.

I tuck and roll before sitting, so I've never worried about the unit touching anything

Maybe it's split so that if the seat comes slamming down it doesnt hit you and tear the wang off...?

See a lady can sit on the seat, a man should lift the seat, but then you got people who are 'speedy' like joe and don't have time to lift it. A guy should stand there and aim carefully at the opening and not splash all over the seat. The gap is there for guys who can't aim and for those last few dribbles that don't have the power to clear the seat. Those drops fall thru the gap instead of onto the seat.

w00w! That's so true. Thanks for clearing that up! I don't think I'll be getting a new split toilet seat anymore. I tend to like to sit down and pee at home so I can read. I tend to sit there until I'm done with an articles though.

But Yunisden, at work I've got guys that can't even hit a urinal! That split isn't going to save the rest of the whole ring against THOSE guys.
