Numbers on these are always skewed to what they build more of! I'd like to see some thefts per 1000 produced, which would change the numbers considerably.

Great, I have a sports car and the #5 most stolen car in the US, and I have to get new insurance really, really soon. I'm not in for a good day that day, I suspect...

Every statistic has a back door fault.

Of course the Camry and Accord will be high on the stolen list...because there are more of those cars than other cars.

That wouldn't explain why you don't see the Maxima on that list...but I'm just trying to explain the statistics.

My other car is at #10, and it shares parts with #5 and #6. Does that mean it is more likely to receive stolen parts than donate them?

I also think it would be interesting to see the ratio of stolen cars to sold cars for each model. But I have heard that very popular cars like the Camry and Accord are even more likely to be stolen (as a percentage of cars sold) because the market for parts is so much higher. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Maybe the penalties for possessing and using stolen parts ought to be higher...

The good news in this, if you have a car on the list, might be that having a tiny bit of deterrence (The Club, or the flashing red LED of an alarm) might quickly send thieves on to the next car.
