OOPS..HEHE. Got too ahead of myself there.

Definitely I would say they are held liable for damages. Anything before going to court is just "he said, she said". They caused the damages so of course their liable. Depending how honest the towing company are, which most of, if not all are not, see what happens. But like I said, is it really worth all the hassle for a few hundred to take it to that level? Only you can answer that.

If a live witness saw them towing it and can indicate an accurate time, then there's all the proof you need. 3rd party witness account of them dragging the car. You could win that puppy! Can you say super expensive front bumper coming your way as a result of lawsuit? Wooo hooo!

I got surveillence video of them towing with a hook tow, so I think I'm good! Hopefully won't need to go to court unless the tow company is an idiot and wants to make this go that far

Oh wow, doesn't get any better than that. They'd be foolish to argue with video footage.

After 20 calls to various departments including the tow truck licensing administration with the city and the company itself, I got nowhere. I couldn't waste anymore time in my work days pursuing them and had to let it go. Absolute garbage.

Good luck pursuing your assholes.

I actually beat the towing company once.... just once. Got 1500.00 out of them, 2 days later.

I got pulled over and told I couldn't drive home by the officer. He called a towing company, and they came out and towed my Miata. Even from the back of the kind officer's squad car, I was making sure they didn't **** anything up, they had the keys, etc.

Got it hooked up front, dollied under the back, and away they went to the tow yard. Away I went to the graybar. An hour later I'm in my friend's car after the officer told me i could go after he'd sufficiently spooked me, and I go to pay to get my car out. The guy at the desk is nervous, and starts talking.

'Uh, i don't know how to tell ya this, but uh... well. Um..."
"What'd you do to my car?"
"It's not that bad, really!"
"Okaaaaaay. What happened?"
"well, uh, maybe I should let you talk to the driver."
"Just tell me what the hell happened, or let me see my car!"
"okay. Cmon out. I'll call the driver."

They led me out there, showed me my car. The driver's fender was bashed in above the wheel.... mind you it was my car and three others in a 50yd x 20yd lot. Apparently regardless of the fact he had the keys, and could have DRIVEN it in to the yard he backed in the tow rig, and somehow parked me in the side of a 1965 Valiant.

I was not amused. Called the owner the next day, the usual "can we handle this w/o insurance getting involved" squabble ensued, back, forth, etc. Got enough to fix the car, and while I got a fight, I also came out decently.

Of course, the money went to paying the fines that made the officer decide I couldn't drive home in the first place instead of fixing the car... seven years later the fender's still dented. When I respray the car this year, I'm keepin' the fender as a reminder to not do stupid ****in' things anymore. It's worked thus far.

In your position it's kinda rough to prove the scratches on the bottom of the front bumper weren't already there. Maybe the camera'll back you up, and I hope it does... but i see it being very easy for them to say "sorry, but there's no way you can prove you didn't run over a curb." Give 'em hell regardless though!

Meh I dunno, thought about it, it was a private company with a city impound lot. Funny thing is, when I went down to get my car in the morning and it was gone, I walked upstairs and looked across the road and there it was, all alone in a huge fenced off lot

I don't feel like messing with city property, and I don't know where the towing company's headquarters is
