I got surveillence video of them towing with a hook tow, so I think I'm good! Hopefully won't need to go to court unless the tow company is an idiot and wants to make this go that far
Do NOT tell them you have surveillance video until you drag them to court. Ideally, find a way to make them lie under oath... then whip out the video.

Nothing like good ol perjury to land the bastards in jail... with a hefty fine payable to you.

yeah...i had my car towed when there were axle problems...i give the towing guy my keys to unlock it. i went into the shop where it was at. the car is towed to the shop where i was having my work done. long story short, i pick my car up a few days later and i go to unlock it...oh hello, the locking cylinder just falls out of the door. i talk to the shop....uhh..umm..we never locked the car..we got it unlocked. towing company: we did not break it. it was through AAA....AAA: after investigation, not our fault. now i just unlock my car through the passengers side door and have a hole in my drivers side...too lazy to get it fixed.

Tow company is definitely liable for this.

The video my work showed me was of another instance where that towing company towed another car. They are still reviewing the tape to see if they can find the truck towing my car. The bottom of my front lip is just a little scraped. Probably needs to be sanded and repainted but I still shouldn't have to pay for that.

Back from the dead! How ironic, I see your sig says your in denton!?!? Well, my S got towed for the 1st time (sickening) while I was in Denton last night! I was at my gf's apt and parked in a resident spot for 5-10 min while waiting for gf to go to dinner. Suddenly, I hear my car alarm and look out the window in time to see him hooked up to my car with the lights flashing! I get to the tow yard in hot pursuit and refused to pay before I was allowed to inspect bc it was not towed by a flatbed. They used a mechanical "lift" type deal that folds out and latches under the rear tires. The problem was it scratched up the bottom of my Greddy SE exhaust and the bottom of my splitter. Of course, he denied responsibility so I had to call the cops in order to file a police report. Im not sure what to do now, but the cop simply suggested it was a civil matter and I'd have to get a lawyer in order to sue. My gf saw the same things I did, so I have a 3rd party witness.

You're totally right until you're wrong.

I was parked legally. San Francisco MTA sets up a temporary "NO PARKING" zone AFTER I park and retroactively date/time stamp the sign. Got 3 SFPD cops, and 2 City employees to vouch for my car.

11 months later, got my $70 ticket, and $501 towing and impound fee refunded.

They didn't damage it though. . .
