This isn't the best analogy but here goes anyway. Trans fats, and other poisons, are the equivalent of your parents telling you not to eat rat poison.
They didn't just tell you not to eat it, they locked it away.
And in any case this isn't a case of the consumer having a choice, trans fats are foisted off on us with no alternatives given. The manufacturers/restaurants have the choice but not the consumer.
And I agree with the fois gras ban cause that's nasty stuff!!!!!! To heck with the force feeding of the geese, it's just nasty.

rat poison can be beneficial if taken in right amount. There are tens of thousands of people taking rat poison in the US right now.

One by one, they are getting stripped away, and people dont even care.

one is for the good of the goose (fois gras)
one is for the good of human
I don't really care if trans fat is banned or not - the restaurants are free to use them as far as I'm concern. However, I am for governmental requiring conspicuous labeling if a certain eatery uses trans fat. Give us an informed choice. Isn't this what democracy is about?

Trans Fat has no corresponding medical uses.
Once again, disclosure and choices are the key. Right now we have neither so either disclose and give the consumer a choice or ban it. It's really only to help the shelf life of the fat and serves no other purpose.
It's not a spice and doesn't make food taste better. Mickey D's decided not to use it because of the cost differential not the taste.

Is that anything like Vegamite?
That's not good with anything, even my dogs refused to eat it.

It is supposed to be an Australian delicacy but all the Aussies I know say it is just for the tourists.
It is a spread that you put on crackers or bread and eat. To me what I see on the toilet paper would be more appealing.
Fois gras is just liver mush. If you mush something and make it look unappealing then it durn well better taste good - that's not the case with liver.
