Basically NY is considering banning trans fat use by restaurants. I personally find it a little ridiculous. Anyone who goes into a dunkin donuts should be properly informed what is in the donut, but I don't think the restaurants should be banned from using a perfectly legal ingredient to protect people from themselves. I rarely eat donuts, although they are probably my favorite thing in the world, but when I'm ready to have one, I shouldn't have this kind of impedement. It reminds me of the movie Demolition Man, where all kinds of things, including kissing and eating bad foods is illegal. It's just going too far.

This isn't even the same f-ing ballpark as the smoking ban, either. If I sit and eat a trans fat filled donut, it's not like some of the trans fats escape my mouth and crawl into the person sitting next to me.

Then again, maybe I just don't fully understand how bad trans fats are, and if they really can be easily substituted..

What do you lot think?
So what harm is there in banning trans-fat? There are cooking oils availabe on a commercial basis that don't have them.

It took the rest of us three pages to say that.
