Look, people know which foods are good, and which are bad.
You wanna smoke, smoke....
You wanna eat trans fat, go ahead...
The problem with Trans Fats is that it isn't your call. It's not as if you go to the grocery story and choose to buy trans fats for your foods. It is hidden in the foods you get at restaurants (McD's is one of the worst offenders. They use it cause it's cheap) and in baked goods.

You don't really have a choice or an alternative. If you want a Ding Dong you can't choose between one with Trans Fat and one without.

The lack of choice is the reason I applaud NY. Dang, hell just froze over, I said something nice about NY.

i want to serve trans fats? fine. its your own PERSONAL CHOICE whether to consume them or not. jeeze why do we always have to let big brother take care of us? It's time we start taking responsibilities for our own actions, instead of crying fowl, and making more laws to babysit us.
I love living in a city with smoking prohibited in restaurants!! It's not the second hand smoke dangers, it is the stench.

I can actually smell and taste my foods. If smokers were confined to bell jars and only they could smell the crap then I'd say let them smoke, but when they ruin the food for everyone else in the restaurant then I say ban them!!

And unless you clearly post which products have trans fats then the diner doesn't have a choice. That's the basis for the NY decision.

I live at the beach you should see the fat a$$e$ who waddled in front of my house this past summer. Good for the gov. to try and improve my view, ban the trans fat.

F me, cover up or go to a lake or river instead.

Had dinner with the wife and her friends tonight. The women folk wanted to stop off at the Disney Store to buy the kids some stuff. I waited by the fountain and watched some beeferillas walk into and get this, buy stuff from Victorias Secret. Shlt if you need a size with 2 digits VS is not for you. Head over to Wal-Mart for something flannel. In the 15 minutes I waited outside I counted 7 busted can of biscuits walk in and buy stuff they shouldn't have.

Crap as I type this they are showing a fatty on TV and it ain't for a diet ad.

That ain't right.

Gov should not just band things, but also promote healthier lifestyles, maybe have community jogs and stuff, or discouts on gym memberships. Is a cheeseburger worth it in the long run?

This isn't the best analogy but here goes anyway. Trans fats, and other poisons, are the equivalent of your parents telling you not to eat rat poison.

They didn't just tell you not to eat it, they locked it away.

And in any case this isn't a case of the consumer having a choice, trans fats are foisted off on us with no alternatives given. The manufacturers/restaurants have the choice but not the consumer.

And I agree with the fois gras ban cause that's nasty stuff!!!!!! To heck with the force feeding of the geese, it's just nasty.
