Interesting read about Orbitz. I am sure there are a lot of travelers on this board, so, it may be worth the read.

 

Given there's no way to check the responses for any veracity, I'd take this website with a huge grain of salt.

 

The way that things are now why would you go to Orbitz or other sites. The individual hotels and airlines all guarantee the lowest rates/fares on their sites. May take a little longer but it give you flexibility and avoiding problems as cited in the link.

 

use a travel agent. They will help you avoid this scenario, and deal with the problems you might have. If you have a bad experience at a hotel, for instance, your travel agent has more pull with them than you, as they can cease booking clients there, whereas all you would do is deny them one customer. Quite often, people attempt to save money, and only cause greater expense and hassle in the process.
