EAT, DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Supplements all you want, you still have to eat healthy. Being fit with a nice body isn't just a habit, its a lifestyle.

if you put on 45lbs of muscle in one year set up a site with your pics to back it up and you'll make money selling your "diet" because its not normal. What was your starting weight?

What motivation could you have for bs'ing? Welcome to the internetz.
Thank you. Now if one had a starting weight of 100lbs and then ended up at 145lbs i would beleive it. Rule of thumb- in a diet consisting of 5000-7000 calories a day every 3lbs of muscle gain will have 1lbs of fat gain, same go's for losing wait, both go up and both go down. Harpoon- i'm not picking on you by any means you might just have really good genetics, so once again congrats on your gains.

I'm 6'1", 169 LBs. I've been hitting the gym hard over the last couple months. I'm also trying to put some weight on, but I also play some intense basketball before or after I hit the weights.

So I guess I'm competing with myself?

Yea, pretty much. You need to eat more, and eat simple carbs before you play.

anyone tried N.O. explode? any side effects? i had that for the first time and that day i got sick and trying to find out if that caused it or something else. i took one scoop of N.O. explode in the morning (between 10-11am in an empty stomach with one cup of whey protein) went to gym worked out and came home drank another serving of whey protein and had a bit too much of ice cream (i am lactose intolerance not a major case but it will make me fart and eventually diarrhea if i ingest too much) for lunch snack then around 8 or 9pm my stomach turned upside down and i was puking all the ice cream that i ate and felt like i got food poisoning. any idea? i am just scared of trying that again.

currently i m taking optimum whey protein in the morning then hit the gym and take another serving of whey protein then casein at night. what kind of food should i eat prior to working out?
no explode is absolute crap.

As we've all been saying, EAT. Supplements aren't going to do anything if you don't eat the proper diet

when I first started working out I put on about 30 lbs of solid muscle my first year. using just creatine, protein, and eating lots all day. It's just not as easy to do that with a hectic schedule.

alpha lipoic acid taken with creatine gives you great results too.

I'm not completely clueless as to what I'm doing here, just wanted to get some opinions on current supplements as I've been out of the game for a while.

thanks for the info. I guess muscle milk is a protein supplement that I'll look into, and well good 'ol creatine can't hurt.

LOL, also hitting the mall 6 times a week as workout

that's a distance walking and heavy lifting (of shopping bags) right there

back to the topic, is there an age where we should stop pushing that hard (or trying to gain muscle mass that much)?

nope keep lifting hard! As you age it does get harder to build muscle though. I know plenty of people in their late 50's to early 60's that hit the gym hard on a reg basis.
