Checked out a friend's WRX.
Still ugly, but DAMN.
New ECU, new exhaust, suspension and a whole lot of little parts and tuning later:
223 HP at the wheels,
1/4 in 12.8 @ 106MPH
4.4 sec 0-60
The above are G-Tech, but he has slips from Sears Point (pre final tuning) that are almost as good - and he'll be running again now that he's got it running well.

Wow.
The thing launches like a rocket. And today it was raining here in SF and that thing is a dream in bad weather.

 

That's a pretty decent time consider he only has 223 at the wheels.. Is he usin the stock turbo??

 

How can you have an '02 WRX in 2001? The USA is crazy sometimes.

I have a stock MY00 WRX (that's 2000 ) and yesterday I spun all 4 wheels from a standing start (dry road, cool weather). It'll snap your neck! Makes my S2000 look stupid from a standing start but it's a near thing in the twisties (WRX is much easier to drive fast though).

Does the engine thats in the 2.5RS take readily to turbocharging? Cause i wouldnt mind having a WRX except then I'd have to look at it while I was walking to it in the parking lot.
