Default Turtle Tank Filtration

I have two map turtles in a 35 gallon tank with a crappy filter stuck to the side. The filter is filthy in like 4 days so I need something larger to handle the water in the tank, about 30 gallons. I would like an external canister style filter to keep the tank as simple looking as possible. If anyone knows of a good on that would work well, let me know.

I never heard of map turtles, but I used to have a couple painters, and baby snappers. I used to use a large aqua clear external filter plus an in tank filter to keep the tanks clean. The painter turtles were a lot cleaner. The snapers were a complete mess, I guess because the are naturally dirty turtles. I found that not feeding them in the same tank you keep them in keeps the water a lot cleaner for a longer time.

SSSK,

Check out the Kingsnake forums:

http://www.kingsnake.com/

They have turtle forums on there, and many knowledgable members. You should be able to get a good response to your question.

I don't know anything about turtles, but used to keep a lot of monitors and boas/pythons. I found the Kingsnake forums to be a great source of information.
