If I were you I would make all of your software that you designed for them expire in x amount of days then setup a website where they would have to purchase it after the trial period. Quit.

Steve,

These aren't "small things." Your company is being run in a highly unprofessional manner and one that doesn't value the employees. I've had my own business for 19 years and have ALWAYS gone out of my way to be upfront, helpful and supportive of my employees. I can only expect my employees to treat me like I treat them.

I suggest you bail and find a more professional work environment.

At least you're lucky to get paid medical insurance. Some small companies make you pay half. I have a 150 deduct on prescription medicine.

You didn't work, you didn't get paid. Be thankful you have a job. Every week I have semi-skilled people coming to me looking for work, mostly from the job vacuum in California. Since I've been self-employed since 1974, I just can't relate to your rant. If I don't produce, I starve. And by the way, as you mature you will see that those e mails were a mistake. Those of us from the old school would can you in an instant for bad attitude. I know, it happened to me when I was your age. Find another job; UCI is a well respected school and you should have no trouble. By the way, I was relieved to see you are with Direct, the start of your post sounded like Amway! Oh, and you didn't "lose $600" you just didn't make it. This Enron type accounting always galls me. Lose is when the job costs you $700 and you collect $100. Allstate was great at stating losses when their revenue was less than projections. Stupid math.

If this is the way they treat you in the beginning, it can only get worse...I wish there were more people like you at my workplace....Union Job...MF'er's come in to work even if their dying of SARS, just so they don't miss a days pay. Had some asshole sneezing on me all day today, didn't cover his mouth, nothing. I asked him "Dude, why didn't you stay home. your killing me...?" he goes " Oh, It's only allergies.." Yeah, Right...never had allergies before....inconsiderate bastage...

Sorry Steve but I have to go with chipperman on this one...I've been in the working world a long time and managed alot of people. Reading these emails you come across as a whiner. Furthermore, you should have gotten all the benefits/waiting periods straight before you ever accepted the job. That's part of what you find out in an interview. Perhaps you acted too quickly in accepting the position. Learn from this experience. I do think you are giving up on it a bit prematurely, but it's your call. Good luck...
