unbelievable. i'm assuming the water is so cold that it keeps the ice hard right below the structure?

The ice is rediculously thick on some lakes. People drive on them and there's 100's of those little shacks.

That is an insane fishing shanty!!! And yes, the ice doesn't melt below them since in most ice fishing locations it is very cold and the heat rises up away from the ice.

They have a saying among ice fisherman... When is it time to get off of the ice? When you start wondering if it's time to get off the ice.

BTW: The fish get hungry when there is no food to eat (insects, etc) on the surface of the water.
