Default Unlikely allies?

The Russian government is offering condolences, intelligence information, and assistance to the United States as we ponder attacking Afghanistan.

In the early to mid 1980's, the U.S.S.R. was our sworn enemy and the reason for the construction of countless nuclear warheads. I can remember, as a preteen and teenager, being very scared of anyone in either government getting too excited or irrational. It seemed to be on the news every night, and we heard horror stories of potential nuclear destruction and our demise.

How do you feel about allying with this same country, now, less than 20 years later?

As long as it is credible information and can help apprehend those devils that did this to us. The Russians will have a lot to gain if they do help us as well as the Chinese if they have any information. Although, Russia had that war with Afghanistan and that may be their ultimate reson for helping.

So what? Arafat didn't offer anything less.
Did you believe him as his people were dancing on the street?

Russia is not an ally. They've never stopped spying in the US or we them. They still have the largest nuclear arsenal, and it's still pointed at us.

Countries have shared interests and conflicting interest, but they are not "friends" or "allies"

What Arafat would offer would probably be different than what the Russians would offer. It would be very hard to believe the leader of the PLO unless they hand over Bin Laden to us and any others that may be involved. I haven't seen any peace between the Palestinians and Israel since their last peace treaty. You can see that by the behaviour of the Palestinians towards our country.

Bin Laden was trained by our CIA to help bring an end to Soviet Russia in the late '80's ! !
