upgrading to a V-6 S2K
My post on Honda of Concord, NC's three new 2001 S2Ks on the lot (silver/black, silver/red and yellow/black) for MSRP
http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=14917
attracted some interest on my aside comment that I may end up choosing, when my C43 AMG comes off lease, between a 2002 S2K in Blue and the new AMG SLK32 coming out next year (likely to be Boxster S territory in price): AMG-hand built supercharged 3.2L V-6 with 349 HP and 332 ft-lbs of torque (16 more HP and 70 more ft-lbs of torque than the new M-3!), AMG brakes, suspension, etc:

With the Boxster S [old news], the AMG SLK and the M3 upgrade (to which will find its way into a M Roadster), I wonder if Honda will respond by adding a couple of 9000RPM cylinders to the S2K to keep pace -- now that would be a car, with the handling, rifle-bolt 6-speed, 350 naturally aspirated HP and, at last, gobs of torque! Or have we just said NSX for half the price (unless it goes V-8)? How easily can a V-6 be squeezed into the engine bay and will the current drivetrain handle the greater power (hopefully we'll learn from the supercharger posse's experience over time)?
On a more philosophical note, where can we drive these cars with 55MPH highways, to say nothing of local street speed limits? But nice to have a burst on the on-ramp!

I figure the SLK will still handle like a beached whale. Honda could always partner with an outfit like Comptech to make a dealer-installed S/C performance package as some other brands are doing.
Hell, why stop at just two extra cylinders? Let's go for a V-8. It would have gobs of HP/torque and the handling of a Sherman tank. This car is supposed to be a tribute to 50 years of Honda technology, which includes extracting enormous power from small, high-reving engines. Enjoy it for what it is. I'm sure somebody, somewhere, sometime will drop a V-8 into a Stook ala the "Monster Miata" of a few years ago. See it at: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/2866/
