Everytime I open Microsoft Word... it freezes on that little screen when I first open it everytime.. and then I get system is busy or something of that sort (blue screen of death). It worked fine on Friday when I finished my report, now going to print out another clean copy I cannot open it. I tried clicking from the desktop, from start menu, directly from the file I need, and all of them freeze up. Not enough resources... I stopped everything that was running, had 90% RAM free, and it says I have no resources. Did I get a virus or something? Running norton right now but so far nothing. Any help!?!? I run WinME.... saving up for that Mac.. but if Word won't even open, what am I to do!??!?!

Friend's don't let friends go apple. Go with WinXP, I have had no problems at all with it, and it seems to be ery stable. I may try linux next, or lindows, because i have a problem with billy gate's empire. *shrug*

I don't know what to tell you about your Word problems, I hope you don't have to reformat your hard drive. have you tried turning it off, unplugging it, and turning it back on? it doesn't sound like a virus. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, i'm not very computer-saavy. (at least when it comes to fixin' em )

Try restarting. If that doesn't work, then try reinstalling Word, but make that your final solution. I doubt its a virus but more of a lame Microsoft bug. Don't go apple either, go FreeBSD! Hooray open source!

I don't know fi thats any help but if you really have to, you can always put the file on a disc and go to a friends computer or something. Good luck.

well, i restarted 17 times... froze everytime.
hmm.. going to my last resort and going on my mom's computer to get the file over the network. it's not really a problem, since i already do have a copy of it, but it's more of a long term problem. i probably won't ahve enough saved up for the mac until the end of the year.

you might try doing a search for the file "normal.dot" and delete it. This file gets corrupted occasionally. Don't worry about deleting it - if Word sees that its misisng, it'll create a new clean copy.

There's also a symantec advisory for a known issue with MS Word that occured after January 7th. I don't know the current status of the issue, but you might want to check on it if you have Norton Antivirus installed: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/share...src=con_web_nam

Thank you daveZ !!! I was sweating as I was looking for the MS Word issue, but then I just said why not, do a search, so I looked for normal.dot and I deleted it, and opened word, and it worked!!! You are a genius (not sarcastic) !!!!!!
