We are all commies! This is the United Communist States. Do we get to start wearing them hats now?

I believe the idea is to map your route AROUND the cameras. . . but I may be huffing paint again, since I'm a commie.

Well that means England is Facist and Socialist as well cause they've got them everywhere.

There's even a thread on S2ki somewhere about people burning and blowing up the English photo radar boxes.
Hi Dave, how are you, we do it too in Scotland too, everyone hate speed cameras or scameras as they are known. They are placed to generate revenue not reduce accidents regardless of what police/government say, a tyre laced with fuel makes agood bonfire.

Representative democracy. Your council wants more cash from radar or redlight systems, you vote the out and take them down. I personally hate school zone speeders and fools who run red lights. Go forth and stop wasting bandwidth.

Vote to take them down yes, I agree, but seems most americans these days only want to sit on their asses and get fatter instead of doing something about it. I have regularly submitted proposals against this very thing, but seems it just gets brushed off.... thats why im taking it to the National Motorists Assoc.

Not to mention police here have way too much power and are rarely held accountable for their mistakes or abuse of it. Ever notice when a criminal does something dangerous, the cops dash cam is always on, but when the cop does something shady, that dash cam evidence quickly disappears.

Allow me to play Devil's Advocate (wait, I did that already in this thread - with amusing results) and remind you that you might simply be on the wrong side of order for your town.

That said, are you with your town, or against it?

If you say you're against it, I'm going to kill a puppy. If you say you're for it, but keep persisting to rail against red light cameras, I'm going to call you a liar, and kill a puppy (because you're a liar, and don't deserve a cute puppy).

No actual puppies were harmed in the making of this post.

The problem is that anything that is automatic can be tampered with. Who is to say that this photo radar is not intentially miscalibrated in order to generate more tickets, and therefore revenue? Traffic citations are a major source of revenue for many police departments and the photo radar and red light cameras are just a cash machine for the cops.

The cameras at the stop lights are especially disturbing, as the excuse was supposed to be for safety, but in fact stop lights with photo ticketing are actually more prone to accidents. It was also found that many police departments change the lights from an average of 4 seconds of amber, to 2.5 seconds of amber in order to generate more revenue.

We have a Constitutional right in this country to confront our accusors, but how many people have the technical expertize to fight a computer generated ticket caused by police tampering? How can you even confront your accusor when you are downtown and your accusor is installed at the intersection of 116th and Meridian Street?

This is a slippery slope. It started with "victimless crimes," and it has progressed to "witnessless crimes." Crimes must have a victim and an accusor, or they are not crimes. Otherwise, you will one day find that you have no rights to defend yourself whatsoever.
Wizard, that is not downtown, and you know it... Hah. I was reading your post, ignorant to the fact that you're from Indy, and I had to pause when I read 116th and Meridian.

But yes, I agree with the remainder of your post. I don't like this camera business. Did you read about the new truck-driver-police crap? AH! Why us?

Well now you see why I refused the offer to live in scottsdale. And ffs 8D, stop killing puppies already, there are enough dirty budgies and coyotes we can shoot at all day around there.
