To piggyback off what I already said, I just went to Verizon's website and looked at what a Droid phone would cost me per month, with all the services I currently have on my pre:

450 anytime minutes
5000 text *(I have unlimited on mine but verizon doesnt seem to offer this)
Unlimited Data
Insurance

grand total per month BEFORE taxes: $113.00

plus from what I understand, if you want to use tethering it is going to cost you another $20-$30

no thank you verizon, Ill stick with $80 a month after taxes with my Pre
that looks a little off; i have 450 minutes, unl. web, and 1500 text (which is only $5 cheaper than the 5000, yet another way verizon tries to screw people out of another dollar), with no insurance, $84.99 pre tax. are you looking at $23 worth of insurance?

Verizon's biggest mistake was snubbing Apple - it could have had the iPhone and AT&T would never have become so popular. Once AT&T got the iPhone, it started building out the better data network as well, and Verizon is struggling to keep profitable users of smartphones without any stand out products and slower data networks - we'll have to wait and see if the Droid is any better, or any of the new Android OS phones coming out in 2010, at keeping people with Verizon.
Well if you remember Verizon rejected Apple and their iphone. Verizon was proposed with Apples deal first. Verizon didnt want to be apple bitch pretty much. And if the iphone comes to Verizon next year it will be on more lenient terms then with att.

And verizon's network may not be "faster" but it gives you a consistent data stream that overall is faster then att's. ATT's network is horrible even in their Dense markets.

I live and work in fckn Manhattan! Probably one of their most dense markets, And i had the most dropped calls compared to any other service and their supposed "fastest 3g network" ran slower in real world tests then verizon's and sprints.

whats your point? Tmobile will be even cheaper right? But whats the point of having unlimited minutes; etc when your service quality sucks?

Ive had sprint and tmobile in manhattan (HUGE market) and they were both mediocre/bad sometimes. ATT has been by far the worse.

The point is you pay for the better service. Verizon and ATT know that they have two of the largest networks with both pros and cons and thats why they can charge their users extra.

Also its easy as shit to get a 20-30% off your bill with verizon and att. I have verizon now and get 20% off my whole bill so i pay about what you sprint guys pay.
read my above post friend:

Arguing that a cell phone provider sucks because YOU have bad service is pointless... the only thing that can really be argued is who provides the best coverage in the most areas
You do not pay for better service... that is just a retarded ass statement.

Im speaking of the upfront pricing provided by the carriers....so glad that you were able to complain to get a decent rate... thats all sales bub.. if I want a cheaper bill from sprint I can do the same thing...

Well I like the competition in the market, seems rates just keep dropping. I dont think were too far from a universal unlimited everything plan for a reasonable price.

Sprint already has unlimited everything 99.00 a month?

Well..doesn't affect me. I live in L.A. and don't really travel. AT&T works fine for me..sooo...those maps might only affect those that do alot of traveling.

Ok lets argue about who has better coverage in MOST areas. Its definitely not sprint or tmobile. Verizon has the best coverage in MOST areas. Like i said i dont care if sprint is $30 cheaper a month. Whats more important to me is the quality of their network.

^ i dunno, the only way at&t's customer service could be worse is if they didn't answer the phone. then again, that would have saved me countless hours of hold time and ended in the same results.

You sound like a Verizon Fanboy......

You are getting completely off point of what I was saying. Let me put it as simplistically as possible:

1. Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T all provide good service in my area

2. Verizon and AT&T's smart phone plans are well more expensive then Sprint

Conclusion: Verizon and At&T are dumb to offer smart phone plans at a much higher cost because unless they are the only good provider in your area... its fawking stoopid to pay a ridiculously higher amount more a month for pretty much the same thing you can get from a different provider for cheaper. /end rant
