Thats called image retention, and it's on all plasmas. It's not a 'problem'. If you can't deal with it, sell the TV.

I have a 47" Vizio LCD, and it's fine. My FIL has a high-zoot 46" Sony XBR LCD, and mine doesn't look a ton different (though I have Dish and he has OTA HD.) I read the reviews on CNET, and there were some things that higher-rated TVs like Samsung and Sony did better, but it was pretty nit-picky AV geek stuff; for normal guys like me who just want to watch the game in HD, I think the Vizio is plenty good enough. What it came down to for me was that I was in Sam's, and the Vizeo and Samsung were right next to each other, looked all but the same, and the Samsung was $600 more. That $600 savings paid for the TV stand. The only complaint I have is that the speakers on the TV suck, but I'm going to get a 2.1 system soon (no way to run wires for 5/6/7.1 since I have HW and cathedral ceilings) to take care of that.

BTW, in regards to the "new HD stuff coming out" comment, my Vizeo is 1080P and works with Blue-Ray; what else is coming out? My FIL's Sony has no more capabilities than my 1/3rd the price Vizeo.

AVSforum.com

I have an idea. I'm going to go on IMDB.com and ask for advice on buying a boat...

Go to a forum where you can get expert advise.

Everyone on S2ki.com is a car expert. The logic is flawless.

FWIW, here is the CNET review of my TV. Basically, "good for the money." For $600-$2k more, I'm sure other brands are better. But I'd be still saving for a Samsung or Sony, and I have a Vizio hanging in my house now. If you have the coin, but Samsung or Sony. If you don't, the Vizio is quite good, and probably good enough unless you are a big AV enthusiast.

I have a 42" Vizio LCD. I love it. No complaints at all. It's 720p, but I don't really care. Got it at Sam's last year for <$900.00. Great deal if you ask me.

I picked up my 52' Vizio Plasma 1080i a few months ago and I'm really happy with it.

Great for sports, movies and blueray. Although I'm going to stop playing the PS3 on it because burn in is pretty obvious and very annoying, looking to pick up a Vizio LCD for the other room for the PS3.

I got my plasma at a great deal a few months ago so I had to have it, $600 for the floor demo, I don't think anyone would pass that up.

But if I was paying full price, I'd spend more to get the LCD.
