Wanna take a cruise with the GF
In about 6 months or so me and my GF have been talkin about going on a cruise. She has never been and neither have I. I live in Cincinnati and we would want to go to a bahama cruise for 6-7 days. I dont care what room we get really. Ocean view would be nice. What am I looking to spend? It seems most are in the range of 400-500 for the whole trip. Does that include food? What else would I have to get setup (passports, etc) How much should I expect to spend? Whats a good cruise? Let me know guys. Thanks
if you drink, bring money and/or sneak a stash onto the ship. if you like soda buy a unlimited card for the duration of the cruise. tea, coffee and water and juices should be free.
excursions and on site stuff to do cost money so budget a good amount of spending money. oh and the gambling LOL factor that in as well.

You can go to the cruise websites to get an "MSRP" on the cruise, and then shop around on kayak, orbitz, or whatever travel aggregator you prefer.
My dad is a travel agent, and has sold Royal Caribbean products (RC, Celebrity, Azamara) with pretty good feedback from his customers.
(but off the record he says if you can beat his price through a website, do it!
)
Budget for drinking. My bar tab (with 2 people drinking on it) was $1500 for a 6 day cruise. The drinks are $6-$10 a piece... and they are particularly weak. But then again, I'm from New Orleans!
We had a blast. Try a little bit of everything. I was on the Carnival Conquest. We really enjoyed the comedy shows, the rock cover band that played at the back of the ship every night, and the excursions were fun. Don't go all out on the room. Pay for the cheapest room they offer. You are only there at night, so don't waste the money. Your money will be better spent elsewhere on the ship. The food in the main dining room wasn't really impressive, but then again I'm from New Orleans so I have high standards. They seemed to focus on presentation of the food, so the quality of the meal itself suffered. The portions were small, but there were many courses.
There was another restaurant on the ship that was not part of the "all inclusive" package. I think it was like $40 per person for a 3-4 course meal, and the food was EXCELLENT. We had to make reservations and they filled up quick. I always said that if I ever go on that cruise again I will eat at that restaurant EVERY night. It's an extra expense that is worth the money.
Jamaica sucked except for this hole-in-the-wall restaurant we ate at that specialized in jerk chicken/pork/seafood. Grand Cayman was a waste of time. Cozumel was AMAZING. It was one big party on that island. Cozumel made the entire trip worth it, and we were only there for a day! I have since been back to Cozumel on vacation. Definitely book a cruise that stops at Cozumel!
And the last thing: Don't go on a cruise with only you and your GF! You will be miserable. My cousin went on a cruise for his honeymoon and said it was the worst idea EVER. When I went on a cruise we had almost 40 people with us. It was a blast! There is always someone who is up for anything. It is definitely a trip that is more fun with more people. I wouldn't recommend it without having at lease one or two other couples with you.
