I've got a pile of books that I've read. I need to go through them and see if any of them are good enough to recommend.

I know that my two favorites are by Jimmy Buffett:

Tales from Margaritaville

and

Where is Joe Merchant?

Tales from Margaritaville is a very short book comprised of several short stories that can stand on their own, or interweave with the others to form a wandering story. One of my friends says that I remind her of the main character at the start of the book, Tully Mars.

'Tales' was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the subject of this thread. GREAT book and can be very inspirational if you are in the right mood when you read it.

"Joe" was good as well, but you must read "tales" first IMO.

These are both a must read if you are a Parrothead or even just a regular fan of Jimmy.

How much? And shouldn't your offer be in the "For Sale" section? J/K on both sentences.

Another of my favorites: Skunk Works by Ben Rich. This a non-fiction book about the Skunk Works, the advanced development arm of Lockheed Martin. They are responsible for the design of such famous aircraft as the U-2, SR-71 Blackbird, F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, and the X-15. The author was involved in several of those projects and eventually was the head of the organization. The book has lots of ridiculously cool stories about the development, testing, and operational use of each of these planes. As an example: When they first took the scale model of the F-117 out to the radar testing range, they discovered that they had to redesign the pole it was mounted on, b/c the radar signature of the pole was so much larger than the plane! Once that was fixed, they took it back. On the first day of testing, the radar operator asked "Are you sure the model is up there? I can't see it at all on the scope. Oh wait, now I got it." The author didn't have the heart to tell him that right at that moment, a crow had landed on the model .

Anyway, I hope that gives a flavor for some of the fascinating stories in this book. If you're a military history/airplane fan, you must read it. Now!

If theres any literature folk out there, I read Planet Of the Blind for my creative writing class. He's a good writer and uses a lot of metaphors to make his work very descriptive and yet he's blind..

Completely mindblowing!!! His first "Jack" book, The Tomb is supposed to be made into a movie soon with possible casting of Hugh Jackman. Titles to MUST READ: Conspiracies, The Haunted Air, Legacies, Hosts, All The Rage, & newest; GATEWAYS. You will not be disappointed. I have gotten several other people hooked and even Stephen King proclaims to be The President of the Repairman Jack Fan club.

James Patterson is one of my favorite authors....so thanks for this, I'll have to check this guy out!

And speaking of James Patterson....I just finished a book written by him, but it was very different from his normal writing. I didn't think that I would like it as much but I gave it a try...and honestly...I was hooked in the first chapter..I ended up reading the entire book in 2 sittings, 24hrs!!!

"Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas"

I'm not going to tell you what it's about, cause that didn't really interest me....so just go read it!
