To all before I leave this thread.

Weather for or against the governments decision to go to war with Iraq just remember that the Military with your support or lack of is there to afford you the opportunity to have your opinion. Without our military past or present you wouldn't have these rights. The military isn't over there to pin on medals and get ribbons, they are there on your behalf. That is why you say thanks.

It was reported on ABC new several days after those videos were shown that they were old footage that was dug up and misreported as people celebrating 9/11.

I think thats when I really opened my ears to the bias of certain people in the Media .
You are correct, they were celeberating a Religous holiday I beleive. I have close friends that have family in Palestine and they were shocked when they saw it on T.V. as it was quite old footage.

But there has been footage of it. You're saying there hasn't. This has been covered months ago and even here in a hick town of Indianapolis.

There's always going to be demonstrators, but Bush also made a promise after 9/11 that he would fight terrorism no matter where it was and it wouldn't be an overnight process, saying it may take years.

Not everyone is happy with this government, but come on, that what makes the US so great. We can sit here on a public forum and say how much we agree/disagree with the government.

We are so lucky to live in a country where we can express our thoughts and not worry about getting executed because we don't agree with elected officials.

Hell, I'll be against the war if it takes longer than 3 weeks.

I think that you are confusing Liberal with Dove and to the same point linking Conservative with Hawk. They, at least to me, are not the same. I was and still am a liberal with a strong social conscience. Once can be conservative on monetary policy, liberal on social affairs. They are not mutually exclusive.
In the 70's I spent my time in South East Asia when called. I feel that defending my county, being patriotic, believing in basic human values, is not in covered by any generic label.

Should we have waited long enough for Hitler to become a power noone could overtake? It is the same exact situation, If we wait on Sadam long enough he'll be the one threatening us. Or hey, lets just sit back and relax praying for world piece while the U.S. gets attacked again. How many planes have to be crashed into U.S. territory does it take for us to learn that we have to be proactive against these threats to the U.S.
We are actually being reactive.

We were attacked because of our policies and past deeds in the Arab world.

Think about it . Are there battleships from other countries poised to attack on the shores of the US . There are infact US ships and other forces staged around the world.

Desperate people commit suicide bombings because they have nothing left. They are desperate people that have been violated.

They are not people that hate our way of life or our freedoms as certain gov officials would have you believe.

In fairness to 1ARace, you know and I know that nobody chooses to stay at home vs. go abroad. Somebody way up the chain of command makes those decisions. Moreover, I won't condone belittleing the work he does for the Corps. The services of every sailor, airmen, soldier and Marine is valuable.
Sorry i just got worked up about the whole situation. I do know that he is part of a team... as is every person here at home paying taxes, building infrastructure, learning and watching.
While i won't discuss my political view on the situation, I will support our troops .... Unfortunately some cannot show restraint out of respect for the loss of life As mns2k said, patriotism and social consciousness are not mutually exclusive values.

May the loss of life be minimal for everyone

Listen, all of you who think we should be attacking Iraq! Iraq is a sovereign nation and we are violating that sovereignty! But we're doing for the sake of the people of Iraq you'll say. Yeah right. Don't any of you forget that Saddam Hussein was recently reelected and got 100% of the vote!! That's right, 100%!!!! And don't even suggest that the election was rigged! Saddam would never do that......

P.S. God Bless our troops! Come home safe so you can
