Watch enthusiasts help!
Well I am in the market for a really nice watch. Nothing necessarily with diamonds, not a rolex either.
I am fairly new to this watch obsession, so I want opinions on makes, favorite models, whats good/bad ect ect.
My price range is 1500-5000ish...
My ideal watch would have a blue dial with silver sub dials.
Ive been looking at Breitlings, TAGs, and a few others.
Post some pics of some sick watches to help me decide!!!
Thanks,
Miles

This is new Tag Carrera. Its a good, durable mid level watch.

Btw, I have bought a previous gen Tag Carrera from this site without any issues at all.

Take a look at the Bell & Ross instrument series. I got mine a few months ago and I really like it.

I really like the look of the Carrera it's a nice watch.
In that price range you can get yourself into an entry level Panerai as well. It really depends on what your tastes are and what you want out of the watch.

The first thing I'd say is don't buy new. For watches below $5000, take a look at the Timezone Sales Corner: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...eadt&frm_id=32
For watches over $5000, see the TZ Showcase board: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=thr...frm_id=71&rid=5
Try to narrow down what you want before you go shopping. Watches are like cars - they lose a huge percentage of their value as soon as you buy them, so if you buy from a retailer, don't expect to ever sell it for a good price if you get tired of it.
Do you want a mechanical watch or a quartz watch? Do you need a date? A chronograph (stopwatch) function? A dive watch? A pilot's watch?
Also, like cars, you can get discounts. You won't get much off a new Rolex, but you don't want one, so that's ok. Most other brands, you should be able to get up to 40% off even from an Authorized Distributor.
Here are a couple of Tag Heuer Carreras for sale. I think the list price is around $2700, and they sell on TZ for $1200 and up, so you can see how much of a discount you can get by shopping for a used one:

Breitlings are all over the place price wise, new and used. They make so many models in both quartz and automatic that you can usually find what you want at a good price. They have an iffy reputation. Some are great, some aren't. I think a lot of them are way overpriced for what you get, but if you like them, who cares?
One other thing - buy what YOU like. Once you decide what you want, who cares what anyone else thinks about it? You're the one who has to wear it. But shop around. Never pay retail
