My first nice watch is going to be a Hamilton for sure. Even the big players in watches recognize Hamilton as a great "starter" watch.

I like my Movado, it retailed for $1700 and I got it for $1200. The one I want is the SE Extreme Carbon with a rubber band. Model number 0606390. It retails for $2000, Although I could prolly get it for $15-1800.

found it for $1500.00

If you're gonna spend $2K for a watch, why Movado? I mean they're decent watches for those looking for a watch around a grand but there's nothing really special about their quality and barely comes with any status recognition. You can get a much better watch for that price. Perhaps something like an Omega Seamaster? Or even something like a simple IWC Portofino on the upper-side of 2K if you're looking for something more elegant. You have a little more broader choice of much better quality timepieces for that amount.
lol, you are talking to people that own $35k honda sports cars.. probably not looking for status recognition.

FWIW as far as build quality and comfort goes I think my $400 movado is better than my $1500 tag. I have been wearing my Tag for about 3 months and the band is so scratched up it looks likes its 10 years old. I have had my Movado for about 4 years, wearing it every day and it looks like its in better shape than the tag.
Anyone looking for a luxury piece, status is part of the reason in buying one. Maybe it's a large part of the decision or it could be a little but it is a factor in the decision making. I mean if you're looking for accuracy, a Timex is probably more accurate than anything mentioned here. I can't comment on your Tag getting scratched up more than your Movado but I'm sure it can take much more abuse than a Movado. I've owned a couple Movados before and like I said, they're decent watches and all I'm trying to say is that for $2k, there's just better quality watches available. If you are a huge fan of Movados, that's great, I was sharing my opinions since I have a thing for watches too and have been through a few including Movados. And you'd be surprised on how many people that owns this $35k Honda sports car has a collection of watches or even a single watch that is worth more than their cars. Maybe not the biggest reason but I'm pretty sure a little bit of status played a role in their choices.

My roommate sold his BR03 for an IWC (forgot which model), both pieces are amazing!
