Sweden healthcare is far greater then us. We have to pay a high premium for health care. I was reading how Sweden has high taxes because they have to pay for all there social services. That why some country have double tax for there cars and other luxury. We will always see people driving there cars because people in united states love driving. Also increase in taxes would put greater expense on everything. I remember when gas prices went up I felt it because I work in the importing and exporting business. The cost of the goods was charge more and will eventually trickle down to the consumer.

I think we're talking two different things...percentage of healthcare covered vs. quality of healthcare. There's a reason people fly from all over the world to visit medical facilities in the US.

I don't disagree with the impact that a rise in gas prices has on the economy, but I still think it would be more beneficial than detrimental.

I guess I still remember how high gas prices were when I was living in Germany...and that was back when the dollar was far stronger than it is now.

What bothers me is when the gas companies raise our prices even when there has been no associated rise in their costs...nor increase in taxes. It's just pure greed.
