Thumbs up Web design!

This question is for the guys out there that know a few things about web design etc...

I was assigned a new task at my job, the task is to update the organizations site but I really don't know jack of web design etc. I guess since I look like I know they pointed the fingers at me. Anyways, the question is, what application is the easiest to create and nice looking site that can earn me a raise? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx.

Hey,

How complex is the site at hand? I wouldn't imagine them assigning a website to someone that didn't know the basics of HTML or how to use a program like Dreamweaver. The company's website is the forefront to their brand and identity....

www.dailybread.org The site has not being updated it for over a year now. I wanted to make more appealing and friendly. Make a nice and smooth menu with links etc... I really don't know much about html, I was trying to use cool page but I found it a little bit to kiddy. Is Dreamweaver difficult to use? I usually learn this type of things quickly when Im not sleepy. Thanx for the input guys.

Well, looking at the site, you have nowhere to go but up!

Just stay away from those ugly FrontPage themes. They are so overused, it's sad. Most pros swear by Dreamweaver, but I have been using Frontpage since around the time Microsoft bought the company that first made it so I am pretty used to it. Frontpage gets a pretty bad rap, but the 2004 version is not that bad at all.

The book "Web Design in a Nutshell" is a pretty good reference. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846

I say pay someone $500 then say you did it! The raise is worth your $500 investment no?
