Living at home, driving to college FOR THE WIN!
and college years were some of the best in my life.
I met lots of cool people: my best friend and GF and a lot of cool people in my major.
I went out with my own friends and had a really good time.
I tend to be laid back; I don't really relate to showing up to class hungover, going to party's with bro-hos on thursdays, or wearing sandals in the shower.
F*** Ramen! homecooked meals FTW.
I dunno, for me, working is way eaiser (stress-wise) than school that's for sure. I mean at work I can get paid for doing nothing, and have minimal stress. But with school I had tests and, reading and papers, all the while memorizing stuff. And homework! No more!
If I ever become rich and have nothing to do I might go back and get a PHD but who knows.

So to the OP: Stay home
j/k bone as many chicks as you can!!!!

i dont dorm, i drive to my college everyday. its not too bad once you get used to it. the ppl who dorm overexaggerate it. once in a while i'll sleep over at the dorms so i dont have to drive back home (45 miles away) as for food, my gf cooks for me, though she doesnt know how to cook she tries really hard, and i appreciate that
as far as parties, you really miss out as a commuter. same goes for drinking (who would really wanna drink then crash their S afterwards anyway?). honestly beer sucks, if you wanna get drunk go with hard liquor... and you dont get as fat coz of the carbs. going back to the subject, as for jobs, if you have time, take classes at a trade school, ie: i took classes to be a licensed phlebotomist (ppl who draw blood in the hospital) and the pay is like 18/hr. get a part time job, and you'll have spending money. IMHO college is just practicing the time management skills you learned in highschool... stuff you prolly missed out on if you skipped class all too often. o yea... final piece of advice, be responsible... its too easy to skip all your classes, fail, and have to deal with summer school. good luck (again)

Know where your calsses are before the first day of school. Do the work they ask you to do. Where are you going to school? What are you majoring in? Remember to over study at first then once you get the hang of college classes you can study less.
Don't bring too much shit. Not to get all Fight Club on you, but eventually the things you own end up owning you. Don't worry about having the best and nicest shit, someone else somewhere will have a big ass tv. You'll be friends with them. You'll get to enjoy said big ass tv. But don't spend too much time in front of big ass tv, granted hang overs happen, but get out there. Get laid. Get involved. Do something. The less time you spend cruising online forums and video games while in college the better.
And seriously, if you aren't hungover at least once or twice a month find your pulse. This is your time to have fun (just not too much fun, 1 or 2 hang overs are fine, 12-25 hang overs means you have a problem).
As far as bringing shit, I would honestly start without much and bring cash to pick up what you need, otherwise you end up dropping money on shit you find you really don't want/need.
Man I miss school sometimes.
And Well paying job is not necesarily better than college and a part time job.
Happiness > All. Don't rush through school, you have the rest of your life for the rest of your life.
