What do you know about NHT speakers?
I'm looking at a set on onecall.com for 500 bux marked down from 900. Comes w/ four matched satellites w/ a velodyne 8" sub. What do you guys know about these speakers? Thanks!
when i was shopping for speakers i almost went with NHT.
Seems to be alot of good things written about NHT but when I went to listen to a few models, they looked cheap and sounded "boring".
Some speakers make the music come alive. NHT doesnt seem to do that.

I agree ^^
I have past flagship 3.3's and have owned almost all models over past 15 years, until Rockford Intl (as in Rockford Fosgate) bought NHT from Ken Kantor. My favorites were the Super One's which topped anything below $1K...for $350.
NHT is different now, only the name remains, although Stereophile did review SB-3's as a decent value and good sound. Word of warning, NHTs (of old) are very high quality sounding speakers and trade off efficiency. These aren't Klipsch's. My Super Ones took all of the 200 w/ch I had to give to them. My 3.3's ...don't ask.
Buy from Crutchfield and you have a 30 day trial with the system in your living room. Onecall is decent but I do not think it gives trial period.

I've got NHT SuperTwo's in front, SubZero in the rear, and a SuperCenter in the middle. They definately take a lot of power, but the response is nice and neutral. Imaging is pretty good, and the SuperTwo's have excellent bass response. I've heard better, but that was from a $20k pair of Martin Logans. Okay, the $4k pair of Definitive Tech speakers was probably a little better, too.
I think the Super series (SuperOne, SuperTwo) is one of the best values. The SubZero is good, but lacks a little on the low end.

A warm amp like a Sunfire/Carver works very well with them.

very simple, low-cost setup that just ROCKED in my small-ish oak floor den (14x14)
I miss that system. Most musical system I've ever owned. Simple = better
They are on the bright side because of the metal tweeters. I used to have Superones/Jolida 302/NAD CD player for a den system. Not bad. Speakers are pretty subjective, you should really listen before making up your mind. Personally, I have liked very few metal tweeter (the Totom Model 1s were not too bad and they replaced the SuperOnes for a while).
