"What Does It Take..."
To work at a "tuning shop"? It seems that they are popping up by the hundreds ever since everyone started "drifting"...
I'm really curious, of course they must be doing top notch work to be mentioned in videos/magazine articles, but do they take Auto Tech in highschool then hope to be hired?
Where are these people trained? ( UTI? I saw a performance course in their brochure once. )
Thanks.

UTi sucks from what I've heard.., sometimes it's good to educate yourself. Most basic and simple shops don't even understand why you buy this exhaust or coilovers for your car!? It takes more work for a tuning shop or it's just another "replacement shop", that does not know how to do jack shiet to the cars.
I'm not quite sure how those crazy old Japanese guys got involved and got so damn good at it???

UTI does suck....my "highschool" automotive course prepared us better than UTI.
Learning hands on is the best way to learn imo because you have an idea and procedure, not just a thought. Knowing what component does what, or why one is better than the other is a different field than just turning a wrench.
