^ Is something like that necessary?

Where do some of you live that you would need a gun for self-defense?

Anywhere. It's just a 9mm pistol, you're reacting to what it "looks" like. Not what it is. If you think you can live anywhere that's safe your fooling yourself. there is no such place anywhere on the earth unless its uninhabitable by both man and animal. I can see where you want to take this. Simply put more children and people are killed by swimming pools then harmed/killed by guns. ~14-15k a year. Lowest rates since the late 70's and then you'd have to go way back to the early 1900 in terms of numbers not ratios! The constant drone of anti-gun rhetoric has been proven false time and time again. If you want to see the proof yourself go to the department of justice website yourself and find out. A 9mm pistol that looks like a machine gun isn't any different than one made to look like a water pistol. Maybe we should make them look like a clown gun so everyone would "feel" better.

edit: spelling/note that pistol is slightly different because it has a 30 round mag. However there are people who can swap out a 15 round magazine and even 3 10 round magazines and fire quick with better shot accuracy than the average guy with one of these.

True that

And it is not a matter of where anyone lives. It is a matter of personal protection. You may feel perfectly fine not carrying a gun and being subjected to whatever life may throw at you. Some of us feel like we need to protect ourselves, its just that simple.

To legitimately carry a conceled weapon you have to be a law abiding citizen with no prior criminal record and complete a course (some of these are better than others). My point is, to carry a weapon is a right. To do so lawfully and respectfully is a resonsibility. Guns dont kill people, people kill people.

its not psychotic to want to carry a weapon.

I didnt want to "take" this anywhere, I was just curious... I understand you have the right to have a gun and so on, I'm not trying to lobby against that or whatever. Personally I don't think I could handle myself with a gun, I was just curious as to other people's interests in them.

Where I live there has been an emergence of this gang called MS13, apparently they are from El Salvador and even the Bloods/Crips don't mess with them. There haven't been any instances lately, but our town was warned about them. I guess I can see a need for guns wherever humans are cause you never really know...

How much ammunition do some of you keep in your homes?

My sig is the home gun and I keep a full clip of mag-safe rounds in it. For recreation, I usually have between 4-8 boxes of 9mm rounds on hand in the safe

If I heard a gang was running around my area, I'd get a gun for both sides and an ankle holster. I'd also move ASAP, why tempt fate?

What would you do in a situation when someone forces themself inside your home? Call the police with the perp staring at you? Even my girlfriend carries a gun.
