man, all of you who like durians are crazy! i was curious about them and picked one up at an asian grocery store about a year ago. after tearing my hands up on the rind and finally getting the damn thing open i tried a bite and it tasted like friggin rancid onion, sweaty feet and banana all rolled into one. freakin gross. not to mention that after only one bite i was burping the nasty stuff for hours after.

That's durian for you! Love it or hate it, it's durian. Lychees and other tropical fruits are not the same though, they are generally loved.

the seed of a durian's fruit is usefull

never tried it..

SOMETHING I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER FROM THE DURIAN FRUIT IS WATCHING THAT BALL HEADED WHITE GUY ON THE TRAVEL CHANNEL, GOING ALL OVER THE WORLD, EATING ALL KIND OF WIERD FOOD. HE COULD HANDLE EVERY SINGLE THING HE ATED, BUT WHEN HE TRIED THE DURIAN FRUIT, HE LITERALLY SPIT IT BACK OUT WANTED TO THROW UP! I WISH I COULD LINK THE CLIP SOMEWHERE.., THOUGHT IT WAS SO......... FUNNY!

mmmm...lychee.

My fiance is Chinese, and she's introduced me to all sorts of Chinese fruits.

Yes, I've tried Durian. No, I will not have it again. Even my fiance doesn't like it. She absolutely loves mangosteen though. They are just so expensive. They are about $12 a pound up here. Even the lychee are about $7.

That certainly is one big tree. I wish we could grow them up here.
