Cool, and I only thought we were only known for the tie, dalmatian dogs, and rakija
Croatians are pretty rare in georgia, but there is a Croatian picnic twice a year where a few hundred get together. Of course I know NY has Croatian clubs and all so that doesn't compare.
My parents use to live in Astoria back in the 60's and I still have some family around Bayside. Mind me asking your last name?

I think it is a pretty rare name. I am no relation to Bill and he doesn't come from the same village or anything like that. You know how these little villages are. We would know him and $hit.
And I have spent way too many nights in those smoky Croatian bars in Astoria.
I grew up in an area of Queens, near by, Ridgewood , to be specific.
Man are we whoring this thread or what?

BTW, I'm a Pavic. The new york crew kept the spelling, but my family added an H at the end so it doesn't get mispronounced. I don't think my name is as rare. You'll find alot of stuff by typing in "pavich" into a search engine. Anyway, it's always good to run into a fellow Hrvat
Hungarian/Slovak ethnicity here.
What is with these people that seem to be offended by the question and say things like "American and that's all that matters". I would think people would be proud of their ancestry. I know I am. And I think the thread starter really meant nationality in the ethnic sense, not in the sense of what country of which you are a citizen.
I think that America is a wonderfully diverse place and it would be a shame for people to lose their ethnic heritage. Keep up those traditions folks, it makes you more interesting.
