Default What is so tough about recycling?

[tree hugging] I don't get what is so damn tough for people to recycle? it takes about 1 extra minute out of my day to recycle everything I can (copy paper, newspaper, plastic, aluminum cans)...

One guy at my work will throw and entire Wall Street Journal right in the trash. I have told him about 300 times that I will recycle it instead...... so he still throws it in the trash.... it is about 2lbs of paper every day just from that... Same with cans... right into the trash....

Seems like the world needs to be more conscience about the limited resources we have.???

At the track (car track) there are never recycle bins...people smoke through the gatorade and then just throw all that plastic into the garbage cans..... [/tree hugging]

I am not a tree hugger or i wouldn't waste gas in a race car......but if it takes almost no time to help save some resources...why not?

Well, because some people just don't care and it is just a "hassle" for them. I am about to move into my new neighborhood soon, and I thought of going around and collecting everyones' cans and recycle it. Plus it will be a good way to know my neighbors.

I no longer recycle here at my house. My reasoning? The recycling pick-up crew is too picky about everything. They want each item seperated/sorted exactly. I said screw that, I'm not going to take time out of my day for the city to make a quick buck. I'm willing to throw it all into a bucket and drag it down to the road, but nothing more.

The sanitation service in my parents neighborhood charges to pick up recycling--I think its about $40 a month. They quit doing it cause they increased the cost. Besides as posted earlier, the recycling companies want everything sorted, so if they find an aluminum can in a bin with newspapers, the entire bin goes to the landfill.

I never heard of a place charging to take recycle stuff away seperately.... that seems odd..... it only takes a few minutes to keep a big bag of stuff in the garage though, then drop it off 1 time per month......

Not that you haven't heard this enough........ I'M RICK JAMES BITCH

Well, it's not that hard to maintain a box for aluminum, plastic, & glass separately.
Here in LA we dump everything into one bin. Houses have them , but apartment buildings dont - I'm not sure why. As an apartment dweller, I have to use someone's houses's bin down the street.

All over LA are homeless people who will collect recycleables for the deposit.

If you drive a luxury sports car you could at least f-ing recycle.

An aluminum can has enough energy to run a TV for an hour ( ~1KW-h).

A Landfill is proposed ADJACENT to Joshua Tree National Park and people still don't think it's important to recycle?!??!?!

I hate how clueless people are ( especially Americans) about their impacts on the environment. And if you have more than two kids you've put generations of consumers on the planet. To be fair, if you have no kids we'll let you off the hook for not recycling.

Sometime check out how much cost (both direct and indirect like land devastation) & energy goes into making a pound of beef.

For some reason the people I am around just seem to not give a shit. People will throw hundreds of aluminum can's in the trash without ever thinking of how easy it would be to put them in a big bag..... .give the bag to some homeless person and let them get the $2.00 or whatever it is... at least it got recycled....

People suck.
