If it is an insinuation my sister was a skank, you are correct sir. Guy's name was Troy Lucketta or something because she still has a pair of his drumsticks and they have his name etched in them. Guy is fugly if you ask me.
Now she is a hausfrau who thinks she is Martha Stewart, back then she was Kelly Bundie. She had the uniform, leather mini with handcuff belt. Drove my dad freaking nuts. I can't wait to tell her kids she got on the tour bus when they are old enough.

Yes . Sounds much better than ANYTHING I have heard on the radio lately! As a matter of fact Christian rock is more jamming than what I have heard on the popular radio stations! I like Reckless Love
and the new Danger Danger albums better though!
Bullet is better than the Bieber crap you listen to!

Rock's last gasp as a mainstay was the early 90s, and now its all pop again. If it comes in waves, it will gain a resurgence again - remember the pop wave of the 80's? You couldn't find rock on the radio then either. There are plenty of rock bands and artists out there even now; they just don't get the radio play because of how the music industry operates and its not "in fashion" right now.
The good news is, good rock never gets old - you can always listen to it.

But, I also think that the guitar sound that rock is based upon is dated, and has run its course. There are only so many lick/riffs/whatever you can play, and only so many effects you can add to create new sounds. To me, this has a lot to do with the raw popularity of NEW rock these days.
I'm not much of a rock & roll fan, I'm heavily into electronically-produced music, and I know a lot of my fellow DJs/producers draw plenty of influence from rock n roll (and all types) of music, but like a lot folks say "It's all been done". Rock is no longer the wild, final frontier it represented in the past. And for a lot of people INTO music, this is a turn-off.
i think rock will always be around, i don't think i ever could put it in a category that could be old or dated, there is still music around today that pulls from great bands of the 70s and 80s.
Too much American Idol BS these days, nobody writes and plays from the heart anymore like John Mayer or Dave Matthews or _______.
every year American Idol spawns "stars" that have a talented god given voice but little else. They'll win or come in the top 10, they'll get money and sit in a recording studio, singing someone else's words, to a manufactured melody or song bed... by the time they realize they have flopped "AI" will make "stars" out of another ten kids and it starts all over again. Foirtuately there are only so many "AI" stars that can be supported...
My girl watches Glee and everytime i walk by what are they singing? some super groups tunes from the 70s and 80s... 'nuff said.

Your argument literally has merit, radio today sucks ( as far as we know ) but there is no lack of good music out there. Just as much now as there ever was, you just need to find other avenues to find it.
I agree mostly with Cthree, you're getting old, and whether you believe it or not, you don't get the new stuff like you think you would.
I don't think I'm out of touch, but when I went to mouth off to the kid that cut me off, he rolled down his window and said "What's your problem old man?"
After I sat in silent shock I realized I'm not 20 anymore, and as such won't like what the 20 year olds are into these days. Doesn't make it shit, just not for me.
In every era of music there are things I've liked.
Classical, Disco, classic rock, New wave, "new rock", electronic, even some of this new dance crap.
Bad Romance is one the best songs written in years, even if you hate Gaga, talent is talent even if you don't like what they're doing.
People also take this large look back over the past and sum it up in 3 sentences..
where's the Led Zeppelins, the Van Halens of this generation?????
those are such rare talents that you can't expect them all the time. Someone, some day, playing in their garage will be the next Eddie Van Halen and revolutionize guitar like he did 30 years ago, but dudes like that aren't grown on trees.
Don't let media dictate what music to like.. if Zeppelin released their albums today net new, they really would sink like the proverbial...
Music is a time and place, it captures imaginations and influences culture, but it has the be "this" music and "this" time to work. Great music is only a small part of wave.
Social, economic, political, environmental all play roles in what hits big.
Seattle exploded because a hand full of talented bands played the type of music, had the look, and made the statement that people wanted to latch on to.
If you think plaid was any less a gimmick then cones on your tits firing of firecrackers then you're mistaken.
and I'd still bang Katy Perry all day long.
