What went very wrong with the radio?

we used to laugh at one hit wonders, no that's all this generation has...
90% of the time, my favourite songs from a band aren't the singles you hear on the radio.
One hit wonders are now the mainstays of the music industry. Sure I've bought some disc's that had the one good song on it and the rest crap. It happens, but I think it also weeded out the crap. If I can be a superstar because I wrote one good song, why spend too much effort on song #2?
I wonder if we will ever see another Dark side of the moon, or Operation Mindcrime. There is no attention span anymore.

There will never be another Dark Side, Blizzard of Ozz, Master of Puppets, etc. but like others have said, the OP seems a tad stuck in the past. That HEAT video he posted is nothing but generic hair-style rock from the 80's. Absolutely nothing amazing or original about the song or sound, which is part of the reason why they won't get radio play.
Mindcore is absolutely correct. The true legends only come along so often. Can't expect society changing artists to show up every year.

I've got no problem with the formula, and hell, a lot of the stuff I listen to is from a time long ago, but to not be willing to change and listen to new stuff on top of the old stuff just cause it's different is a bit ridiculous to me.
I mean this referring to new rock/metal bands. I don't listen to much pop/top40 either, so i don't really care either way regarding that. Do I think those artists are as talented as a real band that can play instruments and write their own songs? hell no. Does it really affect me tho? Once again, hell no.

Are you the guy with the ponytail blaring dokken that thinks he's awesome but everyone actually laughs at after he drives by? Because I think you live by me. Every generation thinks the music that came after them is awful, its a sign that your old. I think its time to trade the s2k for the iroc t-top
