New Orleans-style funeral. Marching bands, food, and bourbon. . . lots of bourbon.

Oh....for a minute thereI thought you were talking about a Katrina type funeral....you know, where George Bush magically makes a Category 5 storm appear, floods your house with you in it and you are buried in a delta marsh by FEMA workers, with a John Doe tag on your toe. Carry on.

My niece miscarried recently at 6 months, they had a funeral for the child? really strange day, the coffin was the size of a big shoebox, not a good day, but at these times families always seem to just get on, for a short time anyway.

Scot, can you evite me to your funeral?
I want to have my body shot into outerspace so that when I'm found by aliens I can be reanimated and then I'll take over their planet.

I attended a funeral a few months back for a neighbor who was like me - unmarried, not many acquaintances, very few close friends. Not too well known by anyone.
The funeral was kind of pathetic. The "best friend" who spoke seemed to know very little about the guy - the "fond memories" were all kind of generic (he was a nice guy...he was a good worker...he bought christmas presents for my kids...), nothing personal about great times spent together or how passionate he was about whatever...
The Pastor (or reverend or whatever he's called) also had a few generic things to say, you could tell he didn't even know the person he was "remembering".
Cremation for me and no ceremony. Whoever is responsible for my remains can just go dump them somewhere.
