What Is Worse: Obesity or Smoking?
I just watched Super Size Me again and at the beginning, an interesting statement was raised.
Deaths arising from obesity will overtake deaths arising from smoking as the number one preventable death the way things are progressing. By the year 2010, one in three American children will be over weight.
Sugar sodas, salty, fat loaded chips and junk foods aren't really helping the situation.
What do you think? Do you think that smoking or being over weight is worse?
I just find it interesting how it is now socially acceptable in society for a person to openly make a comment to a smoker (even a stranger) about how disgusting smoking is, hiding their cigarettes, refusing to come in contact with them while they are lighting up, telling them that what they're doing will kill them, how stupid they are, etc etc.
On the other hand, you don't see as many people telling an overweight person who is shoveling a greasy hamburger and salty fries into his or her mouth to stop eating because of how overweight they are, telling them that they will have a heart attack, blocking their arteries ala Bill Clinton, and hiding their food.
Just something I've been thinking about.

Obesity is worse IMO. In most cases, the whole family is fat and it's genetically locked into your DNA.
Most of our parents and grandparents smoked like Joe Camel but due to education and early prevention less people are smoking today. Obesity is rising fast.
Oh and IMO cheap SUGAR/cornsyrup is the main cause of this epidemic. It is in EVERYTHING.
I did an experiment last year and tried very hard to keep my diet TOTALLY sugar free for 1 month (except naturally occurring like fruit and milk). Results? I lost almost 15 pounds in 1 month. I was 240 and went down to 225 all while keeping my workouts and meals pretty much same. I felt a lot better too. It was very hard though.... that sh!t is everywhere!!!
Sorry for long post but I'm the anti-sugar poster-child.

Smokers can possibly be attractive. No fat person is aesthetically attractive. So being fat is worse. Healthwise, fatter people are usually lazier and eating this unhealthy serves no purpose. At the very least, smokers are trying to relieve stress, at least for me.
I used to be fat and I used to smoke so I can speak from my experience, but of course, what I say is not representative of everyone. Now I'm muscles and sixpack, so anyone that says they cant quit smoking or eating healthier, they just simply aren't mentally strong enough IMO.

Fake sugar is just as bad IMO. I used to be a diet coke addict and had to have at least one a day or else I was unable to function. Not only did I suffer from raging headaches, but I would snap at people for no reason.
It took a lot of will power, but I finally cut them out a while back and my cravings have stopped and I no longer get headaches.

I will never understand people who can drink a whole pot of coffee. I ordered an iced americano from Starbucks last night and only drank 1/5th of it before I threw it out.
Waaayyy too bitter. Aren't you peeing every 10 minutes?

Plain old HOT black java from Starbucks or even McD's is my choice...no frappa-chini fancy stuff. Normally, I buy beans from local roaster (Alterra Coffee Importers in Milwaukee) and just grind& brew in my Krups at work in my office.
I've been told the smell is the most "inviting" smell many people encounter all day.
You are better off...don't get addicted like the rest of us.
God, now I need my fix......
