All of the things you list are things you find offensive because of your religion/morales/values. They are not anti-religion. YOUR religion is anti-them. Some of them are part of everyday life and you're the one rejecting them, not vice-versa.

[QUOTE=JonBoy,Dec 3 2004, 03:54 PM] I said that they flaunt their beliefs and everything I mentioned is a part of people's beliefs outside of Christianity.

The point is not why I find them offensive - the point is that they are part of the belief system of a lot of other people and they are definitely flaunting them.

I never said they were anti-religion - steve c said that. Please read before you post.

The question is not about them rejecting or me rejecting - the question is, are they flaunting what they believe? The answer is an absolute "YES!"

Sounds good man. Maybe we can all sing opiate together!

"Choices always were a problem for you.
What you need is someone strong to guide you.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow,
what you need is someone strong to use you...
like me,
like me.

If you want to get your soul to heaven,
trust in me.
Don't judge or question.
You are broken now,
but faith can heal you.
Just do everything I tell you to do.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow.
Let me lay my holy hand upon you."

I'm sorry, but your argument is baseless and insulting.

You are basically saying that if you don't believe in Jesus that you either support or are part of the lower deonimation of society.

If you don't believe in jesus you don't have any morals.

Only people who believe in Jesus are moral.

Unfortunatley for your weak argument, there are moral people out there that believe that the bible is nothing but a big piece of literature trash. This is the argument that bible thumpers try to make that piss people off.
At no place did I say that these people were without morals. Do you consider those things I mentioned immoral? If so, congratulations. If not, it doesn't matter - that wasn't my point.

My point is that I picked things that are offensive to me that other people believe are just fine (and live their lives accordingly). I picked things that other people actually believe - make a religion out of, since they live their lives by them. The point was not to prove them immoral (I'm immoral, outside of the grace of God) but rather to show that people that aren't Christian definitely still flaunt their beliefs (and I can't get away from them flaunting them).

I also didn't say EVERYONE believes those things - I just said an awful lot of people do and they flaunt it. I made no comments about their morals.

I think you need to stop reading into things I say.

Perhaps you also need to read every post, since the thing that started me along this line was someone (steve c, perhaps - I don't remember and don't really care?) saying "Only Christians push their beliefs on others".... My point is to prove that wrong and I believe I have.

Please use it to replace that licky guy.

Back on topic, I never got a response to my post regarding the historical accuracy of the Bible. Not to continue the digital bloodshed, but I'm curious what people think about that aspect.

Sorry, but "they" are not flaunting anything. Your religion and your interpretation of your religion makes these things offensive to you personally. You do not speak for every religious person here, nor every religion.

Just because you may think the bible says tits, beer and guns are bad, others may not.

Not to continue the digital bloodshed, but I'm curious what people think about that aspect.
You mean like parting the seas and some nutter on an ark with 2 of every animal? The bible is a story made up by a number of people, revised, added to and edited as it suited the folks in power at the time. It was a great tool to control the ignorant masses.

I'm on the same page as steve_c in all things discussed in this thread.

Anyone else find it terriblly ironic that the bible refers to disciples of Christ as sheep?

This is getting good.

I'm curious to know how the believers feel about those that speculate Jesus never actually died on the cross and was actually drugged willingly and knowingly, passed out, and then taken away by a friend where he was hidden away for a few days until he was better....hence the miraculous resurrection?
