Default What's the best way to kill ants?

I've got ant problems and need a solution. Any suggestions besides those foul sprays?

I had ants on my bumper yesterday eating all the dead bugs on there. I went for a 90mph drive and most blew away.

I had them really bad mostly in my bathroom and kitchen they are attracted to water. Sprays and cups would only get rid of them temporarily so I caulked all over my bathroom and that finally cured the problem. Phenoseal is the easiest caulk to work with and in addition to the tube size you can get it in a small squeeze bottle which works well.

One teaspoon of boric acid, 2-3 teaspoons of sugar, 1 cup of water. Put the sugar solution in a small cup filled about 1 inch high. Put a papertowel into the solution and allow it to wick up the to top. Drape the towel over the lip (just a little). Now the ants can get to the sugar solution without getting trapped. They will drink and take it back to feed others the boric acid will slowly desiccate them. Too much boric acid will kill them to fast, this is not good. Change the solution as needed.

Take off the top of a aerosol can or something like that, get a bunch of ants to crawl onto it and then set it upside down so that the flat side is on the bottom. They'll crawl around the circular edge on the top in circles until they get too tired and die.

It's proven. Honest! See, here's an example:

Ortho makes a great product for fire ants. Just sprinkle some around the mound and they take it to the queen. She dies and the mound dies.

This works with elephants - dig a pit and fill it with ashes.

Place a circle of peas around the pit.

When an elephant comes to take a pea, kick him in the ashhole.
